Vespa GS150 VS1

Specification

The GS 150 VS1T 1955 Douglas version, one of only 12 known in the world.

Vespa's first ever delux top of the range model introduced for the first time in 1955 after years of developing and improving the "Sei Gorni " specialized works competion model. It was eventually made available to the public as the 'Grand Sports' model, the first in the series of 5 that were to follow each and every year after with ever more changes and improvments.

Here we have the original version and one of a few very rare Douglas imports of the first ever GSs into the UK (not made by the Douglas factory as were other standard models).

The VS1 is easily spotted by it's unique external handlebar cables and also features the first ever 10" wheels and the only GS which was non battery ignition powered. Note the absence of legshild trim, which is standard of the model as well as the spring loaded fuel tap and "handgrenade style " panel catch. The model also features the special and beautifully shaped VS1 saddle, the first of the long saddles and truely a work of art. Which are just a few of the many little different features to this one off classic and very collectable scooter.

The scooter has been restored previously (not by us) but is an excellent high grade restoration and still in very good condition. There has been no welding or panel beating, the frame is emaculate.

Note the extras which include a special extra fuel tank and spare wheel holder as well as a VS1 rear carrier, which is very rare.

In full working order and ready to ride.
