Electric converted 1960's Douglas Vespa with great patina

This beautiful little 8" wheeled classic scooter has been converted to electric using our latest conversion kit. The kit includes a 4kW DC brush-less electric motor, sinusoidal motor controller, custom made swing arm and battery tray, key-less ignition, digital battery gauge and LED headlight conversion. During the build process we strip out the old petrol engine, and install our kit as a direct replacement.

The whole kit is powered by either one or two removable LG lithium-ion battery.

This scooter can carry a choice of two battery sizes
- Large 72v 35 ah battery 40 mile range
- Medium 72v 31 ah battery 30-35 mile range

No special plug or socket are required for charging. All batteries can be charged via their external charger using a standard wall plug. Batteries can be charged to 70% capacity in 1 hour and fully charged in 2.5 hours.

We chose to keep the patina look, which includes the original Douglas seat and as well as swapping out the petrol engine, the scooter has benefited from a front fork rebuild.

Our pricing

We like to give our customers flexibility when buying a vintage scooter, as soon as we get bikes in we give them a full check over then put them up for sale in their current condition. This allows customers to buy them as they are if they wish (and perform any restoration or maintenance work themselves) or work with us to create their dream bike.  Below are our typical restoration service levels and work that you can expect to get.

sold as is

These bikes are in the original condition we got them in. The scooter might be an old barn find or a previously restored bike in great condition and ready to roll (or anything in between).

level 1 restoration

This focuses on a mechanical overhaul on the scooter and perhaps some essential cosmetic work. We will do what is required to get it  up and running reliably and to pass an MOT.  It will be a great runner and something to invest time in if you wish.

complete restoration

This is what we are famous for.  A full scooter restoration involves bare metal strip down, repair and respray, a total mechanical over haul of the engine, carb, gearbox and forks as well as all new trim. Like a brand new scooter and to your specification
